Amber

Colour:Yellow, Golden Brown or even black. Other more uncommon colours include red amber green amber, and even blue amber, which is rare and highly sought after.

Amber is not technically a gemstone, however it is widely used in silver jewellery. Amber comes from tree resin which has hardened over many years. Amber has properties such a healing depression and promotes a positive mental attitude in life.

Amethyst

Colour:Purple to Lavender.

Amethyst name comes from Ancient greek word amethystos meaning 'Not drunken'. They believed the stone would protect the owner from drunkeness or intoxication. Amethyst is an extremely powerful and protective stone. It said to help the owner in healing and calming of the body and mind.

Ametrine

Colour: Purple and Yellow


Ametrine also known as Trystine or by its trade name as Bolivianite, is a naturally occurring variety of quartz. It is a mixture of Amethyst and Citrine with zones of purple-yellow or orange. Ametrine has the ability to clear long standing illnesses.

Agate

Colour: Green, blue, red, yellow and Brown


Agate is a microcrystalline variety of quartz chiefly chalcedony, characterised by its fineness of grain and brightness of colour. Agate is used as a birthing stone and is associated with midwives, and a stone of new beginnings.

Alexandrite

Colour: Yellow, green and yellow with brown


The Alexandrite variety displays a colour change dependent upon light, along with strong pleochroism. Alexandrite results from the small scale replacement of aluminium by chromium oxide, which is responsible for Alexandrite's characteristic green to red colour change. Alexandrite helps to open up intuition ad creates a strong will and personal magnetism.

Calcite

Colour:Green ,Blue, yellow, orange, clear, brown, pink, grey and red.

Calcite is often the primary constituent of the shells of marine organisms and sedimentary rocks and limestone. Calcite is a very powerful cleaner of energy, for example having calcite in a room can remove negative energy from the environment. Colour:Purple

Chalcedony

Colour: White to Greyish, sometimes pink and red and even black.


Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline form of silica, composed of very fine intergrowths of the minerals quartz and moganite. Chalcedony is a nurturing stone that promotes brotherhood and good will, and can enhance stability within a group.

Citrine

Colour:Pale yellow to Brown.

Citrine is a variety of quartz. It ranges in colour from a pale yellow to brown. Most commercial Citrine is in fact artificially heated Amethyst or Smoky Quartz. Citrine is one of three traditional birthstones for the month of November. Citrine is said to be a powerful regenerator and in ancient times was beleived to carry to the power of sun, hence the yellow colour of the stone.

Colour: Druzy can be found in a multiple colours as it take son the parent stone.

Colour: Red, Pink, Orange, yellow and brown. Its most common form in jewellery is red.

Lapis Lazuli

Colour: Deep blue flecked with Gold.


Lapis lazuli has been mined in the Badakhshan province of Afghanistan for over 6,000 years, and trade in the stone is ancient enough for lapis jewellery to have been found at Predynastic Egyptian sites. Lapis Lazuli is known to alleviate pain, especially that of migraines and headaches.

Larimar

Colour: Blue, Blue-green with white.


Larimar is a variety of pectolite, or a rock composed largely of pectolite, an acid silicate hydrate of calcium and sodium. Although pectolite is found in many locations, none have the unique volcanic blue coloration of Larimar. Also known to help in self-healing, especially in cartilage and throat conditions.

Colour: Green

Pearl

Colour: Milky White with slight tint of pink

Rhodochrosite

Colour: Pink to Orange. In its (rare) pure form it is typically a rose-red.

Pure Rhodochrosite is rare and the most common colour encounters is a a pink colour. The manganese in the structure leading to lighter shades of red and pink. Smoky Quartz

Colour: Brown-Yellow.

Topaz All

Colour: There are several Topaz derivatives which include:
Pure topaz is colourless and transparent.

Yellow topaz is the traditional November birthstone, the symbol of friendship, and the state gemstone for the US State of Utah.

Blue topaz is the December birthstone. Topaz very rarely occurs blue naturally. Heat treatment of removes the impurities and creates the blue Topaz colour.
